- If you don't access a bank account for five years, or cash a check in five years, those funds may be escheated to the state government.
- You may have missed an inheritance life insurance policy or other assets.
- There are postings in newspapers and online for these unclaimed funds.
- Consumers should go to www.missingmoney.com and input their name and state where they live and identify any items.
- The website is run by the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators.
- Also look at www.unclaimed.org.
